Shetland Ponies since 1944!
The History of Royal Pony Farm
Page 2
Continued from Page 1...

The present stallions used at Royal Pony Farm are: Royal Red Viking #133258A, Royal Alice's Boy #135064A, Royal
Golden Supreme #139041A, Royal Firecracker #140453A, Royal Bold Gold #146468A, Royal Kryptonite #148700A
and Lee-Land Caper #146013A.  (These stallions are pictured on the Royal Pony Farm Stallion Page).  All are of different
sizes and colors but with the same standards that Howard demanded in his ponies.

Howard became a lifetime member of the American Shetland Pony Club in 1954 and was a charter member of the
Area
VI Shetland Pony & Miniature Horse Breeders' Association and the Midwest Classic Shetland Breeders' Association.  He
served terms on the Board of Directors in both clubs.

He loved raising beautiful ponies with a good top line,
high tail set, large eyes and small ears.  When he wasn't
out in the pasture, you would find him at many sales and
shows throughout the Midwest.  His own ponies topped a
number of sales in Iowa and Minnesota and the National
Sale through the years and he usually consigned to all
the sales held in the Midwest.  Howard loved studying
bloodlines and visiting with other breeders.  He was also
an avid reader of all things equine so his house was
overflowing with books, sale catalogs, and magazine
subscriptions.

Howard always claimed to be the "factory" and while he
showed in numerous shows in the Midwest, he sold many
ponies to others to be shown on to fame.  There are too
many years and too many ponies to name but some
recent Royal Pony Farm "Ponies of Distinction" were:

and exhibited by Bob Roudebush.  Royal Lacey Lady is Hall
of Fame in Halter and was Pony of the Year in 1995.

--Royal Gray Lad #137886 who was inducted into the Halter
Hall of Fame in 2001.  Gray Lad was shown throughout his
career by Howard himself, Don Rudeen of Oneka Ponies, and
earned his remaining points needed for his Hall of Fame
under his young handler, Crystal Reno of Stagecoach,
Nevada.

Congress Classic Open Model Stallion and Classic Reserve
Grand Champion, Under Division.  (Photos of Royal
