Royal Red Viking is a living legend in the world of Classic
American Shetland Ponies. As of the 2006 foaling season Viking
has 98 foals registered with the American Shetland Pony Club and
his progeny should exceed 100 in 2007.
Donna Norcross has often told the story as to why her father,
Howard Richardson, kept Viking. Howard adored small ears on a
pony and when asked his reason for keeping Viking was that "his
ears are so small you can't keep a halter on him".
Viking get too numerous to mention have had an impact in the
show ring. Some highlights including Royal Gray Lad who was
inducted into the Halter Hall of Fame. Royal Frosted Surprise who
is a Hall of Fame Superior Dam. Oneka's Deja Blue and Oneka's
Deja Blue II who were the Futurity Champion Classic Yearling and
Weanling at the 2004 Shetland Congress.
Viking is presently on loan to Oneka Ponies in Minnesota.
